What structural steelwork & beams actually is — and when to commission it.
What it is
Structural steelwork covers the load-bearing steel that holds a building up: RSJs (rolled steel joists), universal beams (UB), universal columns (UC), lintels, portal frames, goalpost frames and connecting brackets. It's the steel Building Control cares about — the steel with a calc sheet behind it.
Who it's for

When it's needed
Any time you remove a load-bearing wall, open up a floor, add a storey, span an opening beyond the reach of a lintel, or build a portal frame. A structural engineer's calculation triggers the beam schedule — and that schedule is what we quote and fabricate to.

Lead times vary by project. You get an honest, written lead time with your quote — and we do our best on urgent jobs. Call the workshop and we'll be straight with you on what's possible.
Do you work to my structural engineer's drawings?+
Yes. We fabricate to the beam schedule and connection details supplied by your engineer, and flag anything that looks off before we cut steel.

Do you install, or just supply?+
Both. Most trade clients ask us to supply and install so there's one accountable party. Supply-only is available for builders who prefer to install themselves.
